Sometimes we know an experience is in the past, but our mind and body haven’t quite gotten the message.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a trauma-focused therapy that helps the brain process difficult or painful experiences so they no longer feel as overwhelming in the present.

EMDR is commonly used for trauma and PTSD, but it can also be helpful for anxiety, panic, grief and loss, childhood experiences, relationship trauma, fears and triggers, and deeply rooted beliefs such as “I’m not good enough,” “I’m not safe,” or “Something is wrong with me.”

One of the things many people appreciate about EMDR is that healing doesn’t require repeatedly telling every detail of your story. We work at a pace that feels manageable, with attention to safety, trust, and your individual needs.

At Next Chapter Psychotherapy, EMDR is offered in a warm, private, boutique-style setting where therapy is personal and individualized. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we can determine whether EMDR—or a combination of EMDR and other therapeutic approaches—is right for you.

The goal isn’t to erase what happened. It’s to help the past become something you remember without having to continually relive it.

You can’t change the chapters that have already been written, but you can decide how you’d like the next chapter to begin.
